On this page you will find a comprehensive literacy plan I developed for a fourth grade classroom and an additional rationale to the Alverno Education Ability, Conceptualization
Conceptualization: The teacher effectively integrates content knowledge, theory frameworks, and real life connections to ensure student learning.
Through this comprehensive literacy plan I demonstrate how I will use my knowledge of theory to influence my practice of literacy instruction. The theories I focus on are sociolinguistics, and information processing to serve as evidence in regards to my instructional plan for how I believe students learn literacy best. Within this plan you will see that I believe literacy is learned best though the three block framework or reading, writing, and word study. I also discuss how I will approach assessment and instruction for incoming fourth grade students based on the data collected at the end of their third grade year. Through this plan you will see my intentions of creating successful literacy instruction in relation to the ability of conceptualization.
